It’s almost time for the big Christmas countdown to begin! That means it’s time to get your family’s advent calendar together.  An advent calendar is a must have thing to have to celebrate the Christmas season all month long. Make your own advent calendar for the family, especially for the little ones. Kids will have so much fun picking out one treat a day until Christmas comes!  Remember, wonderful things come in small packages.

Fill these envelopes with hints to let your kids know where they can find their treat!

Thanksgiving Home Decor

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and it’s once again time to decorate your home with a new wonderful theme surrounding the holiday and the fall season. There are only a few keystone holidays that bring the family together to create unforgettable memories, and Thanksgiving is definitely one of them. Mommies, daddies, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandpas, grandmas, cousins, and more, both near and far, all surrounding the dining room table covered with food and décor is what this holiday is all about.

An experience filled with love and laughter, Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity to forget all the worries in the world, and just relax and bond with family. Food is absolutely at the centerpiece of this holiday, but it can be further supplemented with the use of cute, detailed, seasonal décor. By utilizing items inspired by natural elements in addition to the wonderful aroma of turkey and pie, your home can be one of your child’s most unforgettable family memories.

If you would like to start decorating your home with Thanksgiving décor, the possibilities are plentiful. A few ideas include:

  • Reuse pumpkins, squash, and gourds from Halloween
  • Invite your child to pick up leaves, branches, and pinecones from the yard
  • Buy fresh vegetables for creative décor
  • Surround your home with fall colors

Here are some ideas rounded up on my Pinterest board.

Cute, Modern Sofas and Chairs for Kids

sofas for kids

Cute, modern, fashionable, trendy… children nowadays have it all, and that even includes furniture, more specifically, living room couches and chairs. You think of your living room and usually there are only a few essential elements that make up the blueprint. You have your sofa, coffee table, TV, and maybe a counter of some sort. However, as your family continues to grow, more items might start to appear on the radar; although not necessary, mini, kid-sized couches and chairs may be on this list. Make that, cute, modern child couches and chairs may be on this list.

Kids love imitating adults, and knowing this, I’ve already recommended that you include your child in the kitchen. But also, they want to lounge on sofas like their mommies and daddies and sit on chairs like their mommies and daddies. Well, to do so, they will need kid-sized sofas and chairs! They already like throwing couch cushions on the floor don’t they? Why not protect your adult sofa and purchase one for your little one? Your child will enjoy it, and you know what, it also means you will get your sofa-space back. [Read more…]

Outdoor Halloween Decorations

halloween decoration

One of my fondest family memories while growing up was walking from house to house with my sisters and parents in my Halloween costume, looking at the outdoor decorations, absolutely amazed and excited for each mini-adventure to come. Every house had its own unique characteristics whether it be spider-webs, coffins, tombstones, vampires, bats, zombies, skeletons, etc. Being a kid is awesome 365 days of the year, but there is one special day where being a kid is extra spectacular. A day when you can stay up past your bedtime and sift through the candy you collected from the time you spent trick-or-treating in a costume of your favorite character. Ah, the good old days.

Halloween is just around the corner and if you haven’t had the time to embellish your house with outdoor Halloween decorations yet, do not think that it is too late to do so. There’s definitely enough time to spruce up your house for Halloween. Just think about the smiles you will witness on the faces of the many children that will walk to your front door, amazed and in awe about all that surrounds them. You can definitely make a lasting childhood memory for the kids in your neighborhood.
