One Patterned Wall

Goodbye Summer, Fall is here! Who says we have to wait until Spring to do some cleaning and redecorating? To me, there’s never a bad time to revamp the décor around the house. That said, what are your thoughts on wallpaper?  I used to associate the word wallpaper with tacky because I always had the image of my grandparent’s busy flower wallpaper pattern that made me dizzy after staring at it for so long.

People in general seem to have mixed feelings about wallpaper. On the one hand, it’s not as easy to apply or alter as paint is. On the other hand, it can create a much bolder, more entertaining atmosphere in a room, especially for children.

I wanted to tackle the generalizations I had for wallpaper, and you know what? Wallpaper has definitely come a long way. There is a number of cute wallpaper patterns each with it’s own distinct pattern and texture. In addition, you can even include wall decals (wall candy) under the same umbrella as wallpaper!  There are many ways to decorate a room with wallpaper; the possibilities are endless. Using different combinations of color and patterns, anyone can greatly enhance a room’s ambiance. Wallpapers can never be boring, and that’s what I love about it. Let your creativity run wild!

For me, my favorite method of embellishing a room using wallpaper is via the one patterned wall look. Rather than wallpaper-ing an entire room, one wall is covered with wallpaper while the other walls are painted in a single color. Usually this wall is right behind the bed but can really be applied anywhere you want to demand attention. Using this technique, the wallpaper jumps out from the rest of the room and draws your interest. When applied behind the bed, you can further enhance a child’s bedroom based on the type of bedspread and pillow you use. Your kids will absolutely adore their room.
